Media Credentialing

CPD/USSS Issued Credentials will be required on the following dates:

  • Friday, October 7 (valid)
  • Saturday, October 8 (valid)
  • Sunday, October 9 (required)

Individual media can pick up their CPD-issued photo credential at the Accreditation Center on the dates and times listed below. All times listed are local, and hours may vary and are to be determined.

Large media organizations will be distributed in bulk and picked up by one to two representatives. Bulk distribution is by appointment only.

Washington University-issued campus-only credentials will be required on the following dates:

  • Saturday, October 8
  • Sunday, October 9

Media may pick up their Washington University campus-only credential at Mallinckrodt Center, 6465 Forsyth Blvd. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Accreditation Center

Knight Hall/Bauer Hall, enter on 1st floor if coming from Millbrook Garage
6796 Throop Drive, St. Louis, MO 63130 (use for GPS only)

Knight Hall/Bauer Hall is connected to the Knight Center & situated on the left as you approach Knight Center. Park in Millbrook Garage, just across Throop Drive.

All CPD-credentialed members of the media are required to pick up their credentials before entering the perimeter. Media credentials will be distributed during the following hours (listed in local time) in Knight Hall/Bauer Hall, Room 330:

  • Friday, October 7, 9 a.m.–7 p.m.
  • Saturday, October 8, 9 a.m.–7 p.m.
  • Sunday, October 9, 8 a.m.–5 p.m.

Media Filing Center

The media filing center will be open 24 hours a day, and the Rate Card, School Help, Technology and CPD desks will be fully operational during the following hours:

  • Wednesday, October 5, 10 a.m.–6 p.m.
  • Thursday, October 6, 10 a.m.–6 p.m.
  • Friday, October 7, 10 a.m.–6 p.m.
  • Saturday, October 8, 9 a.m.
  • Sunday, October 9, 7 a.m.–until the last person leaves
  • Monday, October 10, 6 a.m.–2 p.m.

Media Parking during the debate period will be in the following lot:

Media Information Desks

Media information desks will be set up in the Sumers Recreation Center entrance and in the Media Filing Center. There will also be a Media Welcome Center in Room 350 of Knight Hall/Bauer Hall, immediately across the hall from the Accreditation Center, Room 330.

Media Rate Card Desk

As of Oct. 5, members of the media placing technology and other orders should do so on-site at the rate card desk located in the Sumers Recreation Center entrance. The rate card desk can be reached at 314-935-1950.

Spin Alley Locations

The CPD Media Team will be hosting the lottery draws for media spin alley assignments on the following schedule:

  • Network (national offices of ABC, CBS, CNN, C-Span, FOX, NBC) Draw for positions on Wednesday, October 5, at 5 p.m.
  • Locals/others draw Thursday, October 6, at 10 a.m.

Media organizations must have a representative present to draw.

Truck/Trailer Parking

Primary Satellite Truck Parking: in lot near intersection of N. Big Bend Blvd. and Forsyth Blvd., south of Athletics Complex.
Access via N. Big Bend Blvd.

Local/Affiliate Parking: in grassy area north of Francis Field’s track, off Olympian Way.
Take Forsyth Blvd. to Olympian Way.

Parking passes for all media trucks and trailers, accompanied by map and directions to parking, will be available at an Information Desk in the Accreditation Center and coordinated with the Media Center Rate Card Desk. Please pick up from the Information Desk during the following hours:

  • Wednesday, October 5, 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
  • Thursday, October 6, 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
  • Friday, October 7, 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
  • Saturday, October 8, 9 a.m.–1 p.m.

Trucks will be able to access the parking areas on the following

Media Parking

Media parking is in Millbrook Garage, which is directly across Throop Drive from Knight/Bauer halls, location of the media credentialing and media welcome centers.

To Get to Millbrook Garage *

From I-70 (or Lambert International Airport)

  • Go south on I-170 to the Forest Park Parkway exit.
  • Go east on Forest Park Parkway through Clayton, past Big Bend Blvd. to Throop Drive (first stoplight after Big Bend).
  • Turn right (south) onto Throop Drive.
  • Garage entrance is immediately on the left.

From I-64 (Hwy 40), heading west (from downtown St. Louis)

  • Take the Skinker/Clayton Road exit and turn right onto Skinker Boulevard (the cross street at the end of the exit ramp).
  • Go north on Skinker Boulevard for approximately .9 miles.
  • Turn left (west) onto Forest Park Parkway.
  • Continue on Forest Park Parkway to Throop Drive.
  • Turn left (south) onto Throop Drive.
  • Garage entrance is immediately on the left.

From I-64 (Hwy 40), heading east (from West County)

  • Take the Big Bend Boulevard exit.
  • Turn left (north) onto Big Bend Boulevard.
  • Take Big Bend Boulevard to Forest Park Parkway.
  • Turn right (east) onto Forest Park Parkway.
  • Continue on Forest Park Parkway to Throop Drive (first stoplight).
  • Turn right (south) onto Throop Drive.
  • Garage entrance is immediately on the left.

From the Airport

Lambert-St. Louis International Airport is the local airport.

  • By taxi: Cab fare is approximately $30 each way. For reservations, call St. Louis County & Yellow Cab Company at 314-993-TAXI (8294) or 314-991-5300 (countycab.com).
  • By car: Drive time from the airport to the Washington University campus is about 15 minutes.
  • By MetroLink: Take the light-rail system (metrostlouis.org) to the University City/Big Bend Station. After exiting the train, take the elevator or stairs to street level. Washington University’s Danforth Campus is on the southeast corner (Big Bend and Forest Park Parkway). Head east on Forest Park Parkway to Throop Drive. Take Throop Drive south to Knight/Bauer halls for the media credentialing and welcome centers.

* Sunday Arrivals: Media who arrive on Sunday, Oct. 9, and have yet to pick up their credentials must enter Washington University at Skinker Boulevard and Brookings Drive.

Media arriving on campus for the first time should arrange to be dropped off at the entrance to Knight Hall/Bauer Hall, 6796 Throop Drive, St. Louis, MO 63130 (use for GPS only). The CPD/USSS-issued media credentials will be distributed in Room 330 of Knight Hall/Bauer Hall. Media must have credentials to be on campus Oct. 8-9.

Because of security-related road closures, Knight Hall/Bauer Hall will be the only location on campus where taxis or other ride services will be allowed to drop off or pick up passengers on debate day, Oct. 9.

Prior to debate day, media with debate credentials who would like to arrange for taxi/Uber drop offs or pick ups at a location closer to the Athletic Complex, may do so from in front of Simon Hall, located off Forsyth Boulevard just east of the Athletic Center and adjacent to Francis Field.
