Due to security and logistical needs for the Oct. 9 presidential debate, a number of changes will affect parking and transportation on and near Washington University’s Danforth Campus.
In the days leading up to the debate (Oct. 3-9), traffic near campus is expected to be heavy at times with road closures in effect, and Washington University faculty and staff are strongly encouraged to carpool, bike, walk or utilize public transportation to get to campus. PARKING INFORMATION
Faculty/staff parking
Washington University faculty and staff who need to park on campus on Sunday, Oct. 9 must enter campus via Brookings Drive at Skinker Boulevard. Parking and security personnel will provide instructions on accessing the Danforth University Center (DUC) garage (Lot 83 on parking map) or other locations as available. Only those with a valid Washington University ID will be allowed to enter campus via Brookings Drive. Learn about campus access.
Millbrook Garage
Starting on Friday, Oct. 7, a large portion of the upper levels of the Millbrook Garage (Lot 85 on parking map) will be closed for media use. The garage will reopen to the campus community on Monday, Oct. 10.
Snow Way Garage
The roof of the Snow Way Garage (Lot 86 on parking map) will be closed beginning Monday, Oct. 3. Starting at noon on Saturday, Oct. 8, vehicles parked in the Snow Way Garage will NOT be allowed to exit and no new vehicle traffic will be permitted into the garage until midnight on Monday, Oct. 10. Additionally, no pedestrian traffic will be allowed on the top level during this time period.
West Campus
The lower West Campus parking lot and the lot behind the West Campus garage (Lots 63 and 61, respectively, on parking map) will be closed from Saturday, Oct. 8 until Monday, Oct. 10.
Lots near Athletic Complex
Parking will be extremely limited in the lots nearest to the Athletic Complex, with many closed to the campus community until after the debate. Lots 28 and 31 on the parking map will be closed to the campus community until Thursday, Oct. 13.
TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION
Taxi and Uber drop-offs and pick-ups
Because of security-related road closures, Knight Hall/Bauer Hall (6796 Throop Drive) will be the only location on campus where taxis or other ride services will be allowed to drop off or pick up passengers on debate day, Sunday, Oct. 9.
MetroBus service
Metro lines (#1 Gold, #2 Red and the Green Line) will not service any bus stops on campus on Sunday, Oct. 9. A temporary bus stop will be available at Forsyth and Skinker Boulevards. Regular schedules will resume on Monday, Oct. 10. Visit Metro website
Washington University Circulator
There will be no Circulator service on Sunday, Oct. 9. Regular service will resume on Monday, Oct. 10.
Campus2Home Shuttle
The Campus2Home Shuttle will run its normal service on Saturday, Oct. 8. Shuttle service will begin at 11 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 9.
