Who will win the next debate?
Buffalo wings or Thai sticky wings?
Students at Washington University in St. Louis get to decide all this week at the Bear’s Den Food Debate, a week of food face-offs at the street food station on the South 40.
“We’re having fun coming up with street-food classics our students love and competing versions with a twist,” said Bon Appetit culinary supervisor Jack Durham. “It’s our way of getting into the debate spirit.”
In addition to wings on Tuesday, Oct. 4, Durham will treat students to Mexican tacos de alambre and Korean bulgogi tacos on Wednesday, Oct. 5; classic arancinis and bacon mac & cheese arancinis on Thursday, Oct. 6; and classic chili dogs and white chicken chili dogs on Friday, Oct. 7. The first dish to sell out, wins.

The WashU chapter of Spoon University also is celebrating the upcoming presidential debate with free food every afternoon in the Danforth University Center.
The event kicked off today, Oct. 3, with Secretary Hillary Clinton’s favorite dish: chocolate.
Tuesday, Oct. 4, will feature two of Donald Trump’s favorites, Diet Coke and Oreos. Wednesday, Oct. 5, will pay tribute to both candidates’ New York roots with pizza from Dewey’s Pizza and Domino’s.
Thursday, Oct. 6, will bring sandwiches from Adriana’s On The Hill, Snarf’s, Which Wich and Jimmy John’s. (“Because students are ‘sandwiched’ between the two candidates,” explained organizer Demi Kallis, a junior in Arts & Sciences.)
And on Friday, Oct. 7, donuts from Tim Horton’s and John’s Donuts will be the featured item because “‘Do-nut’ know who to vote for,” Kallis said.
“Everyone wins at this event,” Kallis said. “Who doesn’t love food?”
