Debate Insider Mark Glenn: An ‘educational moment’

Mark Glenn, chief of the Washington University Police Department, is working on his third debate, having served first as assistant debate site supervisor in 2004, and then debate site supervisor in 2008. In both instances, he worked hand-in-hand with the Secret Service and other law enforcement agencies to help ensure the safety and security of the debate site. Now, as chief, he’s in charge of the “big picture” on debate day, coordinating and working with both campus partners and local and federal agencies to ensure the safety of everyone involved.

His work started last September, the day the Commission on Presidential Debates made the announcement. Here, he talks about the teamwork involved in planning, the scope of the effort, and why it’s important.
