Media Advisory - Sept. 18, 2000

REMINDER: Friday, Sept. 22, is Commission on Presidential Debates' deadline for credential and space requests

The deadline for credential and space requests for the Oct. 17 Presidential Debate at Washington University is Friday, Sept. 22, 2000.

Credential requests

Personnel of the U.S. Senate Press Gallery have agreed to assist the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) in processing requests for credentials for the 2000 debate series.

News organizations should make written requests on their letterhead indicating which of the four debates they plan to attend; the names of news personnel, title (i.e., reporter, photographer, etc.) and Social Security numbers of those personnel. Only full-time employees of your organizations will be accredited: No stringers, freelancers, interns, students, or family members.

Seating in the debate halls is extremely limited. Most correspondents will only be credentialed for the media filing center.

Credential requests should be mailed to:
Mr. Robert E. Petersen
Senate Press Gallery
U.S. Capitol
Washington, D.C. 20510
Requests may be faxed to (202) 228-1142

Credentials will not be sent by mail. Credentials will be picked up the day of the debate at the debate site. Current valid press identification will be required to obtain debate credentials. There will be no confirmation of credentials prior to the debate.

Space requests

Requests for a space inside the media filing center (WU's Recreational Gymnasium), a 20 x 20 booth in the affliate work space (WU's Francis Gymnasium), a stand-up location outside the debate venue (looking toward WU's Athletic Complex), or truck/trailer parking should be sent via e-mail to Joani Komlos at joani.komlos@nike.com by Sept. 22. Komlos coordinates the media filing center for the CPD.
